Welcome
Escape to Oakville, the heart of Napa Valley, for an intimate look into a family-owned winery in one of the world’s top regions for Cabernet Sauvignon.
It was 1981 when Atari executive Dennis Groth and his wife, Judy, purchased 121-acre vineyard property in Oakville. The vineyard needed work, but when the couple crushed their first grapes in 1982, the Cabernet Sauvignon it produced was exceptional. Committed to their vision, they designed the Groth label to include an image of their mission-style winery long before it was actually constructed. But by the time Robert Parker gave the Groth 1985 Reserve Cabernet 100 points — the first California wine to earn that distinction — Groth was firmly on the map.
Today, under the leadership of Dennis and Judy’s daughter, Suzanne Groth, the family winery and estates are flourishing. We invite you to discover our critically acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay at our unique mission-style winery, a tranquil retreat set among centuries-old oaks, majestic mountains, and historic vineyards. Tastings are available daily by appointment.

Featuring
Legacy of Excellence
While one bottle of 1985 Reserve Cabernet put us on the map, many more continue to keep us there. Taste the newest releases of Groth’s Cabernets, ranked on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines list eight times in our winery’s history.
Insectary Garden
Arrive early and enjoy a stroll through the Groth insectary garden, where beautiful blooms and plants like Yarrow and California Lilac provide a welcoming environment for butterflies, ladybugs, lacewings, and other beneficial insects.
Unique Architecture
Our winery’s mission style is an expression of our wines — uniquely Californian. The building features furnishings, art, and architectural elements inspired by the historic missions Santa Clara Valley natives Dennis and Judy Groth associated with their home state.
